Sharing the Adventure with You

My name is Adriana, I am the Owner and Designer at Adventure Cakes where the most important ingredients are the love and care I put into one-of-a-kind cakes that I design. I am a self-taught, small-batch, cake designer and one-woman show. When I book a cake or confections order for you, I allocate my time to focus on your personal event – giving the same attention to it as you would.

 

Baking is a life-long passion for me and it still brings tears to my eyes when I think back to my very first cake, which happened to be for our family’s Christmas Eve dinner. I remember going to the bookstore to find books on cake decorating and, flipping through the books, I said to myself “I can totally do this.” I couldn’t wait to get the books home and I must have read them a million times.

 

My first cake was a simple, white-fondant-covered, cake with cute little holly leaves adorning the top. I was so proud of that thing and was hoping my family would be too. At our family gathering, my brother-in-law, who I must say, is very picky and rarely gives compliments said, “Wow! this cake is really nice, you should totally do something with this talent.”

 

I was beaming with pride and, from that moment on, I was absolutely hooked! To make a long story short, I was hungry for knowledge. I began researching recipes, baking techniques and anything else I could get my hands on. Tons of ruined cakes later, I found my baking style; and little by little, people started to take notice and before I knew it, I was making cakes every week for friends, co-workers and family.

 

At that time, I was working a full-time job in banking, raising my two beautiful daughters and baking my butt off – having a blast! Life got in the way of my passion, as it sometimes does, and I had to put my Cake Dream on hold for a little while – only baking for friends and family, and only when they would ask.

 

Several years later, after some big life changes, my kids  are grown and I found the most amazing man, my partner in life, who believed in me, who believed in my talent and in my dream. He and my children are my greatest supporters and don’t totally hate me when I take over the kitchen or force them to try my new cake recipes. We have set out on our own life adventure together, which has given me the opportunity to finally pursue my dream and make Adventure Cakes my reality.
